Moss, born on 13th February 1977, is an ex-American player in the field of
football. He was an American football player who played for 14 seasons in the
National Football League (NFL), including with the Minnesota Vikings and
Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Alongside
Jerry Rice, he is often regarded as the best wide receiver to ever play. He
holds the NFL single year touchdown record (23 in 2007) as well as the rookie
NFL single season touchdown reception mark (17 in 1998). He also ranks in the
top spot on the NFL all time regular season touchdown receptions list with 156.
Moss was well known for his prowess in securing contestable catches, and the
term "mossed" is now part of football's language. Following his
football career Moss began his career as a studio analyst with ESPN for their
Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night Countdown. Moss was born in Rand,
West Virginia. He was a student at DuPont High School. It was one of two
schools which later became Riverside High School. There Moss excelled in
football, basketball, track, and other sports. Randy was also a member of the
school's debate team. On the football field, Moss led the DuPont Panthers to
state championships in back-to-back years in 1993 and 1992. His most prominent
position was wide receiver. However, Moss also played safety for free as well
as punted kickoffs. He also was the team's punter as well as kicker. He
received the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's Football Player of the
Year. Parade magazine named him to their All-American high school football team
in the year 1995, and in 2009 He was named among the top 50 footballers from
high school ever.
